Lagos reads riot act to owners of illegal structures, street hawkers in Ikoyi, V/I, Lekki …issues 14-day ultimatum

The Lagos State Government today read the riot act to all the owners of illegal structures, shanties, street hawkers and those who have converted walkways into trading points and food courts in Ikoyi, Victoria Island and the Lagoon Front of Lekki, and issued a 14-day grace period to remove such illegal structures.

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Tunji Bello, the State Government warned that if such illegal structures are not removed after the 14 days grace, the State Special Task Force on the Clean Up of the areas would move in to enforce the laws.

“The owners of all illegal structures, shanties, abandoned buildings and all those who have converted road median to commercial uses in Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Lekki have between today and two weeks’ time to comply or have the State Special Task Force on the Clean Up of the areas to contend with,” the SSG warned.

The statement added that owners of all abandoned buildings in different areas of Ikoyi, Lekki and Victoria Island which are now harbouring prostitutes, illegal miscreants and unwanted elements must clear the structures of such undesirable elements immediately.

He specifically warned owners of properties on the Lagoon fronts of Lekki Phase 1 who have littered the whole areas with compactors and several other deadweight equipments to remove them out immediately.

Bello said the State Government was concerned about the conversion of the frontages of properties and abandoned houses to kiosks and trading points by maids and guards as well as the unregulated activities of horticulturists who have turned setbacks to hide outs and selling points.

He reiterated the determination of the Ambode-led administration to restore the original master plan of Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Lekki by checking the activities of roadside automobile repairers who have converted many dual carriage lanes to single lanes with indiscriminate parkings.

He said the State Government would no longer tolerate unauthorized parking of vehicles, trucks, among others on drainage infrastructure, adding that owners of such vehicles and properties with unkempt drainages will be prosecuted.

Bello said it was totally unacceptable for people to stockpile and display wares such as bags of charcoal on major Roads like Ahmadu Bello Way and Federal Secretariat Road, Ikoyi, stating that henceforth such goods would be confiscated and the owners prosecuted.

“We are using this medium to sensitize members of the public and residents of the affected areas who are involved in these illegalities to immediately take right action and do the needful as the State Government will take the necessary steps to enforce its environmental and sanitation laws forthwith.

“All those engaging in roadside display of wares, illegal street trading and all illegal squatters on undeveloped land and all those who have converted road median to commercial uses in Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Lekki are being advised in their own interest to put a stop to the illegalities,” he said

Woman dumped by wealthy husband after she lost her breast to cancer storms venue of his wedding to younger woman

On Saturday, August 20, a wealthy elderly real estate manager John Njuguna Ng’ang’a and his young new wife Anne Wairimu were celebrating their wedding at her Ruiru home when the man's first wife Jane Njeri Njuguna, armed with a court injunction, stormed the scene accompanied by the Officer Commanding Ruiru Police Station. (Pictured: John at Ruiru Police Station. Inset: Jane Njeri and John during their wedding)

While the two women engaged in a scuffle, the old man was whisked off to Ruiru Police Station where he spent the night. According to Njeri, her husband opted for a second wife because one of her breasts was surgically removed due to cancer and that at one time, he even insulted her that she no longer has anything special for him.

"He has a right to marry even 10 wives, but what I want is the property I acquired with him. It is painful to see another woman enjoying my sweat after I have endured a lot of ridicule," said Njeri

Another relative who declined to be named said, "We were shocked and ashamed when our mum revealed how Njuguna insulted her that she is useless now that she has nothing on her chest for enjoyment."

Njuguna refused to speak to Sahara Tribune at the police station, instead he just laughed off the matter. Njeri claims she was shocked to learn that Njuguna had found a younger woman to marry just days to the secret wedding, forcing her to seek intervention from the courts.

"When the order was delivered at the woman’s house where the wedding was supposed to be held, he was not around, but he later signed it," a close relative told The Nairobian. "We thought he would obey the order, only for word to reach us that the wedding was going on. Luckily, we arrived in time and saved the situation."

Njeri, a mother of six, says she met Njuguna in college in Machakos and that their love blossomed in Kakamega where he was posted as a clinical officer and where she worked briefly as a nurse. The two tied the knot at a church wedding in Thika following her transfer from Kakamega.

"I decided to quit the government after we got married. We opened our own clinic to allow us to settle down and raise a family like anyone else,"

With money rolling in, the couple lived on the fast lane, raising their children and investing in plots and other businesses until misfortune struck in 2004.

"I realised I had a lump in my right breast and upon further investigation, it was confirmed that I had breast cancer,” Njeri said, adding that she opted for a mastectomy to save her life.

Njuguna was initially supportive, Njeri admitted and when he was attacked by thugs who seriously injured his limbs and left him confined to wheelchair for three years, she took care of him until he healed. Things started falling apart when in 2012, Njuguna teamed up with a close relative who works in real estate and deals in houses of high-profile figures in government and with time rose to the position of a manager of the company.

"Around 2013 and 2014, he started changing and would even step away from me whenever he received a phone call. Things moved from bad to worse when, in August 2015, he came home and found me in bed. I remember he insulted me about my body and kicked me out of the house saying his home was not a hospital ward and I ought to find one," said Njeri.

Fearing for her life, Njeri says she left for her parents’ home where she opened a small business to sustain her life before Njuguna’s brother intervened and brought her back home.

"I returned to my matrimonial home briefly but fled when he arrived in a foul mood and attempted to attack me,” she claimed.

Mariah Carey's Sister Alison Arrested on Prostitution Charge

The 55-year-old woman who's the older sister of pop star, Mariah Carey, was arrested in the upstate New York town of Saugerties on a prostitution charge.

Alison was booked on the prostitution charge after cops allege that she was working illegally out of a local hotel and soliciting money in exchange for sexual favors from an undercover police officer.
The U.S Police are concerned that the woman, who 'based on reports' is HIV positive, may have transmitted the disease to her clients. They are now encouraging  anybody who may have had sexual relations with her to go to a doctor immediately to get tested.

One of Alison's online ads which had two photos her of seeking clients reads:
"Im a pretty lady looking for guys who are looking to have some fun and get into a world of pleasure that other woman just cant provide two you, woman with the ability to make the earth move for you and to get you to see stars, oh yea with me its, 'ITS SUCH A SWEET,SWEET FANTASY BABY, WHEN I CLOSE MY EYES I COME AND TAKE YOU ON AND ON.'"
Police were clued into Alison's activities after being tipped off about the ads.

For now, she's been arraigned and sent to jail in lieu of $1,000 bail, and she's due in Saugerties Town Court on Tuesday.

In March 2016, Alison made a desperate video plea to her  estranged sister, Mariah Carey, asking her to help with medical bills as she said she was dying, Mariah reportedly did not come through for her.

'Rohr doesn't have the pedigree to coach Super Eagles, he'll lead them to failure' - Ex FIFA chief Amos Adamu

Ex FIFA and CAF executive member Amos Adamu has criticised the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for appinting Gernot Rohr as the new handler of the Nigeria’s senior men national team.

Gernot was appointed the technical adviser of the Super Eagles and signed a  two-year contract that will reportedly pay him $47,000 a month to lead Nigeria through the 2018 World Cup qualifiers .

Adamu, a member of the organizing committee for the 2010 South Africa World Cup and an Executive Committee member of CAF and FIFA before he was banned said Franco-German coach, Rohr does not have the pedigree to handle the Super Eagles and will lead the team to failure.
“He does not have the pedigree, I don’t know him,” Adamu told Hot FM Abuja. For now, we do not have a coach. He will just damage us and then he will leave.”
Adamu also questioned how the coach was recruited by the NFF and said he doesn't expect NFF president Amaju Pinnick to resign despite the clamour for him to do so .
It is not in our culture to resign even if it is the right thing to do, He should take responsibility for his action, but it won’t happen. Who will enforce? Who is in that ministry to enforce it? We are also suffering from a culture of poverty and so people asking for him to resign will be bought over and before you know it, they will be singing a different song.”
