Weinstein Co. movie post-scandal, ''Amityville: The Awakening'' grosses just $742

The Weinstein Company’first movie since ousting disgraced co-founder Harvey Weinstein brought in just $742 in a limited one-day release, according to Variety.

“Amityville: The Awakening,” starring Bella Thorne, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jennifer Morrison and Cameron Monaghan, opened in just 10 locations, two weeks after being released for free on Google Play.


The original 1979 “Amityville Horror,” based on Jay Anson’s book about the New York home where Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot all six members of his family, grossed $86 million.

The 2005 movie brought in $108 million.
“Amityville: The Awakening” is the first movie released by the Weinstein Company since more than 80 women accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment and assault.

Weinstein was fired on Oct. 8.
